Ben,Today there has been a warden in Crown Road for practically the entire day. The high visibility of wardens in Crown Road prompted one resident to stick a warning notice to the broken ticket machine warning motorists that she had seen so many penalty tickets issued today. When a warden was asked if he covered the tesco site he gave the all too familiar reply....'my route only covers a small part of St. Margarets Road and not the bus stop / tesco area'.Simon(which was out of order).----- Original Message -----From: Nigel CanningsTo: simon chapman ; Cllr Ben KhosaSent: Friday, September 08, 2006 8:49 PMSubject: RE: Tesco deliveriesTwo things
1. More photos available of lorries in the bus stop at http://mailspaces.com/spaces/spasm
2. The BBC and Channel 4 have both contacted me to appear in documentaries screening soon about the problem - i intend to identify the Council's failings over the years in tackling the problems - I walked past this morning, and there was a Superdrug lorry unloading at 8.30 - At 8.02, the loading bay was full of cars - At 6.10 there were two cars in the loading bay, and one in the bus stop - I only walked past three times today, and each time there was a problem

Further to Nigel's email:I fully agree with Nigel's comments and would like to add the following:Why did tesco employees help unload a lorry that had parked part on the crossing and part in the bus stop? I saw two tesco employees pushing trolleys into the store from this delivery. I spoke to the manager who was on duty at the time and he admitted that the lorry was illegally parked but yet tesco staff still accepted the delivery and helped to unload it.The highway code sets out the rules for bus stops and crossings.tesco seems to be happy to break these rules. Could tesco please give St. Margarets a pledge that they will obey the law and not use the crossing or bus stop to park/wait/unload any vehicle that is delivering or collecting from its St. Margarets store ?----- Original Message -----From: Nigel CanningsTo: McGuckian, JulieSent: Monday, September 04, 2006 3:32 PMSubject: RE: Tesco deliveriesDear Julie
It is very kind of you to let me know about this - I think we are all aware that the problems of parking and loading outside the St Margarets store are far greater than the clash of the milk delivery with other deliveries, but none the less, I do appreciate what you are doing in this case
Kind regards
Nigel Cannings

To: ...Dear Mr CanningsI just wanted to email you to apologise for the issue today with regard to our milk delivery clashing with our fresh delivery.I understand Wesley, our store manager, apologised as the driver of the milk delivery misunderstood his instruction and instead of driving off and coming back later stayed and waited. In light of this we have taken action and we will be stopping direct deliveries for our milk from next week (it will take us a few days to organise). This should stop clashes like this from happening. We are geniunely sorry this has happened. If you have any further questions do not hessitate to get in touch.Regards,Julie
